"Windows protected your PC"

Any app that uses jDeploy prompt this while trying to run the installer. Surely enough, that's the greatest issue with jDeploy. No one would continue the installation of an app after being notified this app is potentialy a virus.

FYI. Just upgraded the jDeploy installer to use an EV certificate so you will no longer receive warnings when launching the installer.

Here is the complete warning I get from Windows Defender:

Windows protected your PC

Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk.

App:

SQirreL SQL Client Installer-win-x64-@master_25J6.exe

Publisher:

CA, British Columbia, Web Lite Solutions Corp., Web Lite Solutions Corp.

It doesn't say anything about being a virus. It indicates that it is signed. The reason for this warning is because not enough users have installed the app yet for it to get a "reputation".

According to ChatGPT, I may be able to get rid of this message by purchasing an EV code signing certificate - currently I'm using a regular code signing certificate. EV is a little more expensive (~$300/yr vs $150/yr ) so I didn't spring for it.
